2019 Budget Recommendations
Lakes and Watershed Commission Water-related Budget Recommendations for 2019
Each year, the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission prepares water-related budget recommendations for consideration by the Dane County Executive and the County Board. The Commission seeks ideas and suggestions on plans, programs and projects that Dane County should consider in its 2019 budget to improve the quality and the scenic, economic and environmental value of our lakes, streams and drinking water. These suggestions were due June 28, 2018.
The Commission considered these suggestions as it developed its 2019 Budget Recommendations (PDF) for budget initiatives to improve the health of Dane County waters. Later in the summer the Commission will hold a public hearing on its draft budget 2019 recommendations (July 19).
After the public hearing, the Commission refines its recommendations and forwards them to the County Executive by September 1 for consideration in the Executive budget. Commission recommendations are also provided to the County Board for their use in budget deliberations. The County Executive’s budget is delivered to the County Board on or before October 1. The County Board and County Executive hold public hearings on the budget during September and October. The County Board acts on the budget after receiving the County Executive’s budget, typically adopting a final budget before Thanksgiving.
